Invitation to seminar of Professor Rob Knight, University of California San Diego

It is  great pleasure to invite you to a special seminar by Professor Rob Knight, University of California San Diego.

The seminar will take place on Monday 23 March at 12:30-13:30 in room P0.3 at Gronostajowa 7.

Title: „The dynamic human microbiome in health and disease”

Following the seminar (13:45-14:30), there will be a Q&A session with Rob to which I especially invite all students and early career researchers.

I would appreciate, if you could distribute this information to interested people in your networks.

Rob is a pioneer of microbiome research and the leader of microbiome bioinformatics. Rob is the founding Director of the Center for Microbiome Innovation, and is a Professor in UC San Diego’s Departments of Pediatrics and Computer Science & Engineering.

His lab has produced many of the software tools and laboratory techniques that enabled high-throughput microbiome science, such as UniFrac (cited >8,000 times) and QIIME (cited >15,000 times). He is a co-founder of the Earth Microbiome Project and the American Gut Project. His work has linked microbes to a range of health conditions including obesity and inflammatory bowel disease, has enhanced our understanding of microbes in environments ranging from the oceans to the tundra, and made high-throughput sequencing techniques accessible to thousands of researchers around the world.
